2007 Commencement

The 2006 Commencement ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Ozark High School Activity Center . Candidates for graduation will assemble at 9:30 a.m. in the practice gymnasium (on the lower level). Candidates for graduation will line up alphabetically according to degree and major (Associate of Applied Science degree candidates then Certificate candidates). (For example, students line up alphabetically within each area: 1 - Associate of Applied Science in Allied Health, 2 – Associate of Applied Science in Business Technology, 3 – Associate of Applied Science in General Technology, 4 – Certificate in Air Conditioning; 5 – Certificate in Automotive Service; etc.)
Traditional academic regalia shall be worn by the student during commencement. Regalia consists of the traditional black gown and cap with tassel. No decorations, writings, necklaces, braids, pins, cords, medallions or other items shall be worn or placed on the academic regalia. Your cap and gown can be picked up at the Office of Student Services June 25 th through July 6 th .
The academic processional will be led by the Marshall of the Ozark Campus and program faculty. Students will be led to the beginning of row one by faculty and directed from there by ushers. As you reach your row of chairs inside the Activity Center, be sure to walk to the end of the row and to fill all seats to the beginning of the row. Do not skip any chairs.
At the appropriate time, Chancellor Blondin will confer all degrees and certificates.
Presentations will proceed as follows:
An usher will direct Row 1 to stand and proceed to the right side of the platform party. All other rows should remain seated until directed to stand by the ushers.
The first graduate will proceed to the podium. Your name will be announced. You will proceed to Chancellor Blondin who will hand you a cover and shake your hand. You will then return to your original seat and be seated.
As soon as the first graduate's name is called, the second graduate in line should proceed to the podium. This will continue until all graduates on Row 1 have received a cover.
At the appropriate time, the ushers will direct Row 2 to stand and proceed to the right side of the platform party. Row 2 will then follow the same directions as outlined above. Each additional row will proceed in the same manner until all graduates have received a cover.
All graduates will stand for the recessional. Ushers will lead the recessional.
IMPORTANT INFORMATIONAL ITEMS YOU SHOULD NOTE:
- You will be presented an empty cover at the graduation ceremony. Diplomas will be mailed after final grades have been posted and completion of degree and/or certification requirements has been verified. Please check with the Office of Student Services to be sure your permanent address on file is correct.
- If special accommodations are needed because of a physical disability and provisions are needed to enable you to participate in the ceremony, please contact this office by Monday, June 25 th .
- If you have a guest or family member who requires special accommodations for seating, please see an usher the day of the ceremony for special seating on the floor.
- Please remember: Do not bring anything into the Activity Center that you will have to carry (i.e. purses, camera, books, flowers, etc.) There will not be a secure place to store such items and they should not be carried during the processional.
